Revise has been instrumental in driving improvements in waste management at Canterbury Christ Church University.
Key projects have included the delivery of bespoke waste and resource management training, undertaking a comprehensive waste management audit with the provision of strategic and operational recommendations, and undertaking a Scoping Study to identify potential contractor and waste management options for the University’s new waste contract.
ore recently Revise has been working closely with the University to retender of their waste management contract, ensuring that a high performance and cost effective contract can be implemented in Summer 2012, in order to further drive improvements in sustainable waste management at the University.
In 2011 Revise was instructed by the University to undertake an audit of waste and hazardous waste arisings across its five campuses. The audit comprised a detailed analysis of waste streams, relevant legislation and current compliance, operational and strategic waste management performance and contractor performance and costs. Following the Audit, the University was able to identify opportunities for improving its waste management performance and for the development of its Waste Management Strategy, which has been fundamental in managing data on recycling, disposal and waste costs going forward, ensuring legal compliance and ascertaining future contract management and tender opportunities.
As part of the Audit, staff training needs were also identified and in December 2011 Revise delivered a bespoke CIWM (Chartered Institution of Wastes Management) training workshop for key staff at the University. The workshop was also used as a focus group and consultation process for staff to provide suggestions and feedback on the University’s new Waste Management Strategy.
Revise continues its close relationship with CCCU and is currently working with the Facilities Team to prepare, tender, award and deliver a high performance waste management contract, to be awarded later in 2012. This continued support includes the development and delivery of a tailored pre-qualification questionnaire, tenders specifications, assessment matrices and assessment criteria and key performance indicators as well as the assessment and award of the contract.
